The external driving mirror is linked to the mounting foot (1) by an intermediate element (12) which covers both adjusting axes (13, 14) about which the mirror can swing back when struck. The element secures the axes on ratchet fittings which open on impact. The mirror (2) is further secured on the mounting by an internal link (5) with a jointed (8) construction so that the mirror is not lost if both axes are displaced.
