Sheet metal channel systems forming tool - uses die with support profiles for channel regions and compressed air supply

The froming tool is used for expanding channels between stacked thin metal plates. It uses compressed air and the metal plates are held between dies or shaping plates forming the required profiles. The plates are made with interconnected longitudinal and transverse channels of different depths. They are formed for use as absorber plates in solar energy collectors. The forming tool parts have protecting support profiles at the location of the transition parts between longitudinal and transverse channels. Additional form components (16) are provided which project between each two supports profiles in the region of transverse channels. This arrangement ensures reproducible geometricla shapes of channel transition parts.
