Clothing articles are ironed in a steam ironing machine in that the ironing plate is associated with a programme control which is effective to supply the steam/air mixt. with different amts. of heated air in order to control the moisture content w.r.t. the requirements of the fabric to be ironed. Unsightly marks and sheen on fabrics are prevented.
