The aquarium filter device has a trough-shaped filter housing (10) with an open top side, a base (24), opposite side walls (26, 28) a front wall (30) and a back wall (32). The back wall (32) has a support arm for supporting the housing on an aquarium. There is a device (20) to feed the water back into the aquarium via the support arm section (22). A blade wheel arrangement (12) has an inlet and a blade wheel (50) coupled with a drive magnet (52) spaced above the base. A motor device (60) has a drive magnet (62) while a coupling device on the underside of the base (24) accepts the motor (66) with the drive magnet (64) which is spaced hem the blade wheel magnet. One end of a aquarium water intake device (14) can be connected with the inlet of the blade wheel arrangement (12). The blade wheel takes in water then the aquarium through the intake pipe device (14) into the filter housing (10).
