The apparatus disclosed in Specification 1,021,118 is modified by arranging the rotating suction means not only to move a sheet into engagement with the abutment means and the side lay, but also to impart forward motion to the sheet and feed it out of the registering device once the sheet has been registered. The suction means includes at least two sucker mechanisms, each sucker mechanism 7, Fig. 1, comprising a rotating perforated disc 8 mounted above a stationary disc 9 provided with two radial apertures, the angular position of the first aperture being adjustable. In operation, suction is applied from source 10 through the first aperture and through the perforations overlying it in the upper, rotatable disc 8, to the underside of a sheet 6 which is thereby registered against the front abutment 4 and the side lay (2) (Fig. 2, not shown); the abutment means 4 is then pivoted away from the sheet, and suction is applied through the second aperture and its overlying perforations so that the rotating disc 8 feeds the sheet 6 out of the registering device. |
