<p>A collecting arrangement or accumulator for elongated articles such as timber pieces, having a feed conveyor for feeding the pieces along a path perpendicular to their axes, into the accumulator and having a discharge conveyor on which the pieces may be accumulated and which also delivers the pieces from the accumulator. The two conveyors are pivotably mounted at their outer ends and have their inner ends overlapping, and intersect at a small angle so that the discharge conveyor can lift pieces off the feed conveyor. The conveyors are supported at their point of intersection by a movable girder which moves to vary the effective length of the discharge conveyor in accordance with the amount of pieces stored thereon at any moment.</p> |
