PURPOSE:To read merchandise information surely irrespective of deviations of merchandise by using a reflecting mirror of variable reflecting angles, a rotatable polyhedral reflecting mirror and a stationary reflecting mirror graup. CONSTITUTION:A reflecting mirror 17 mounted with a reflecting angle varialbe motor 18, a polyhedral reflecting mirror 19 mounted on the rotary motor 20 and a stationary reflecting mirror group 21 disposed in semi-circular on the circumference centering at the polyhedral reflecting mirror 19 are interposed between a light source 15 and a scanning window 22. Then, the laser beam from the light source 15 being a laser oscillator is stopped down by an optical system 16, after which it is further bent by the polyhedral reflecting mirror 19 bent by the reflecting mirror 17 and is finally bent by the stationary reflecting mirror group 21, thereby drawing the composite scanning track in the scanning window 22. Hence, the specimen such as bar codes composed of bars and spaces affied to the merchandise placed on the scanning window 22 is scanned irrespective of the deviations of the merchandise and the reflected light thereof is detected through a filter 9 in a photo detector 10, whereby reading of the merchandise information is accomplished. |
