PURPOSE:To attain the economization of a unit and the shortening of the circuit holding time on facsimile communication simultaneously with the high improvement of the facsimile quality, by using optical fiber for a transmission line. CONSTITUTION:For subscriber's lines in a subscriber's system, optical fibers 281 to 285 of more than a signal core are used as transmitting media and by photoelectric converter 18 and transmitting scanner 19, transmitting picture 17 is converted into a unidimentional facsimile electric signal varying with time; and then, this signal is applied to electrophoto converter circuit 211, where it is converted into a signal of light wavelength (lambda1). This photo signal is transmitted to the repeater station by way of optical fiber 281, light-wavelength branching filter 291, optical fiber 283, branching filter 292, and optical fiber 284. Then, the basic-band facsimile signal after passing through the repeater station is converted by electrophoto converter circuit 302 into a signal of light wavelength (lambda2), which is applied to photoelectric converter circuit 27, by way of optical bifers 285, 283 and 282, and light-wavelength branching filters 291 and 292 to regenerate the basic facsi mile signal, thereby regenerating reception playback picture 23 by recording converter circuit 24. |
