1478439 Fire fighting appliance KONRAD ROSENBAUER KG 29 Sept 1975 [30 Sept 1974] 39732/75 Heading A5A An appliance for discharging firefighting agent comprises a discharge pipe 1 rotatable about vertical and horizontal axes by motors 2 and 3 respectively, which are actuated by a control lever 12 via a control device 33, the lever 12 being divided into (a) a first portion 15 which is attached to a jib 25 so as to rotate therewith, the jib 25 moving with pipe 1 so that the instant angular position thereof is indicated by the position of lever 25 and (b) into a second portion 14 hingedly attached to portion 15 and movable in vertical and horizontal directions against the force of spring 19, the movement actuating four switches 8, 9 and 10, 11 (Fig. 4, not shown), which in turn activate the control device 33. Preferably the lever 12 indicates the attitude of pipe 1 by axially movable rod 24 attached at one end to pipe 1 and the other to lever 12, which is pivoted for vertical movement on jib 25. An extinguishant discharge control switch 34 is located at the end of a handle 22 on lever 12. Lever 12 may be moved to a non-operative space-saving position by releasing detent lever 29 and folding about hinge 27. A further control switch 32, which does not indicate the attitude of pipe 1. may also be provided. |
