PURPOSE:To increase the rate of capturing leucocyte or leucocyte and platelet and to lower the flow resistance of red blood cells by using irregular-section yarn having a specific average fiber diameter as a main filter medium and packing the yarn into a container having a blood introducing port and blood leading-out port at need. CONSTITUTION:The 'irregular-section yarn' which is the blood cell separating material consisting of the irregular section yarn having <=10mum average fiber diameter and is packed as the main filter medium into the container having the blood introducing port and the blood leading-out port refers to the fiber which is not circular in the shape of the section and contains the part longer in the outer peripheral length than a circle in comparison with the circle of the same sectional area when the fiber is cut perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the fiber. The material of the fiber is preferably polyethylene terephthalate, polypropylene, nylon, etc. The blood is introduced from the blood introducing port 5 into the container. The microaggregates contained in the blood are removed by a prefilter layer 4 and the leucocyte or the leucocyte and platelet are removed by a filter layer 4' consisting of the blood cell separating material. The removed blood is discharged from the blood leading-out port 6. |
