Time difference between supersonic waves transmitted and received from the shore to the ship were measured for a fixed unit of time. The distance of movement in the unit time was found by the operating value between first measurement and second measurement. A speedometer was characterized that the operated value was not supplied to the speed indicator when the operated value was more than the prescribed value, and was supplied when the operated value was less than the prescribed vlaue.
