摘要 1,170,855. Box cameras. INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORP. May 9, 1967 [May 13, 1966], No.21546/67. Heading G2A. A box camera is made more compact by bending the light path so that most of it lies parallel to the photo-sensitive film sheet. The examples described and illustrated are adapted for use with "Polaroid" film. The camera is formed as a relatively thin box-like housing having a front wall 12, rear wall 14, side walls 16, and top and bottom walls 18, 20. The Polaroid-type film assemblage comprises a stack of photo-sensitive image-recording sheets 68 in first container 74, and a stack of transfer or image-receiving sheets 70 in a second container 80, the two containers being spaced apart by side members 86 to define a passage 88 between them. At the top of front wall 12 is an objective lens 22, behind which is pivoted a mirror 24. The light path passing through lens 22 is thus reflected to pass through a disphragm 26, 28 and along passage 88 between and parallel to the two sets of photographic sheets. At the farther end of the sheets the light path is reflected again by a prism 92 (or a mirror, as in Fig.4 not shown) to pass through a narrow slit 90 in the inner wall 76 of container 74. Thus as the photo-sensitive sheet 68 is drawn past this slit, the whole sheet is gradually exposed, strip by strip, no shutter being required. At the same time, the image is scanned across the slit 90 by pivoting mirror 24 on its axis, so that the image is maintained stationary relative to the moving sheet. The movements of sheet and mirror are co-ordinated by the mechanism shown in Fig. 7. The image-recording and image-transfer sheets are moved initially by frictional engagement with plates 112, operated by means of a lever 114 from outside the housing, until the sheets enter the nip between rollers 100, 102 driven by a motor 104, after which image transfer takes place in the usual way. A gear-wheel 140, driven from roller 102, carries a cam 138 which is followed by the end of a lever 134. Lever 134 is mechanically linked with the shaft 130 on which mirror 24 is pivoted, thus providing the co-ordination of mirror and sheet movement. The diaphragm is formed by two plates 26, 28 having slots therein which together form the diaphragm aperture 36. The aperture is varied by sliding the plates relative to each other, this sliding movement being controlled by inclined cams 42, 44 on a button 46 mounted outside the housing.
