<p>Permeanently elastic sealant material in sheet form are used for laying of floor coverings in tile, mat or sheet form, esp. for materials difficult to stick down and for sports surfaces. The sealant material is based on polyisobutylene, copolymers of acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene, (opt. together with butadiene/acrylic ester copolymer) butyl rubber, EPDM, chlorinated PE, PVC copolymers, crosslinked polyurethane, or for indoor applications or polyisoprene, polybutadiene or natural rubber. Use of water-or solvent-based adhesives, with long drying times and fire or toxic hazards, is avoided. Only simple cleaning of the surface to remove dust is required and the adhesives stick to moist and greasy surfaces. They show adequate adhesion, cohesion, and flexibility over the range -20 degrees to 45 degrees C, and resist UV light and other weathering for many years. No volatile substances migrate into plastics floor coverings or are absorbed from them. The adhesive is readily bent by hand to any required shape.</p> |
