Thermal decomposer for high m.pt. granular material - utilises heat from resulting gas combustion and injected steam

The granular material is heated from the top with a flame and fused solids and gases are removed from the bottom. Gasification of the granular material is completed without oxygen supply. The heat consumption of the granular material is reduced by the generated gas combustion reaction in the region in which nitrogen oxides are produced. A special gasification agent, pref. water vapour, is injected into the granular material. The plant for fusion decompsn. of granular material requiring high melting temp. is used for coal gasification, refuse pyrolysis and in metallurgical processes for direct reduction of iron ore.
