The jet deflector for propeller- or jet-driven watercraft is a blade (6) mounted and controlled like a conventional rudder but symmetrical about its vertical axis which cuts that of the thrust jet perpendicularly. Blade top and sides are shaped so that in a transverse position it seals the outlet end of a duct (10) open at the bottom which constrains the thrust stream. On one side starting level with the bottom of the jet/propeller arc there is a thrust reversing web (17), angled about 45 deg. extending to the blade foot.
