Water resistant coating material for paper - contg. water-soluble polymer prepd. in oil-in-water emulsion

Coating material for paper contains, per 100 wt. pts. fine pigment particles, 5-25 wt. % of a copolymer A with Tg -40 to +50 degrees C. in aq. dispersion. It also contains 0.1-10 pts. wt. of >=1 water-sol. macromolecular polymer B, which has been prepd. by the polymerisation of water-sol. ethylenically unsatd. cpds. in an oil-in-water emulsion. The water-sol. unsatd. cpds. used to prepare B are pref. unsatd. 3-5C carboxylic acids and/or their amides. The coating possesses a high moisture retention capacity, and gives paper with a high resistance to water.
