The electromechanical device has a mechanism which is used to move roller bodies (24) out of their locking positions and release the respective tappets and clear any characters. This mechanism consists of an unlocking plate (29) on which all the roller bodies rest. The plate can be moved to one side so as to roll the roller bodies out of the locking positions. The unlocking plate may be loaded by a spring to bring it back into a first position following an unlocking operation. The plate may be inclined from the horizontal.
