Washing and cleansing compsn. contains finely-divided water-insoluble, crystalline, cation-exchanging, bonded water-contg. alkali aluminosilicate, prepd. by hydrothermal synthesis. The alkali aluminosilicate contains (I) a K zeolite prepd. by crystallisation at 100 degrees C, having mol. ratio K2O : Al2O3 1-7, and consisting of: (a) zeolite F having compsn. 0.7-1.1 K2O 1 Al2O3. 1.8-2.3 SiO2; (b) zeolite H 0.7-1.1 K2O. 1 Al2O3. 1 8-2,3 SiO2; (c) zeolite W 0.7-1.1 K2O 1 Al2O3. 3.2-4.0 SiO2: (d) zeolite Z 0.1-1.1 K2O. 1 Al2O3. 3.8-2.3 SiO2; and/or (e) zeolite G 0.7-1.1 K2O. 1 Al2O3. 2.3-4.2 SiO2; or (II) a K zeolite, prepd. by crystallisation at 100 degrees C, having mol. ratio K2O : Al2O3 15-20, and consisting of : (f) zeolite J 0.7-1.1 K2O. 1 Al2O3. 1.7-2.1 SiO2; (g) zeolite M 0.7-1.1 K2O. 1 Al2O3. 1.9-2.3 SiO2; or their mixts. with one another or with (I). Particle size of (I) and (II) is 0.1-30 mu. In mixts. of (I) and (II), wt. ratio (I) : (II) is 20 : 1 to 1 : 1. Ca bonding capacity of the aluminosilicates is 50-170 mg CaO/g anhydrous aluminosilicate, at 20-90 degrees C. Proportion of (I) and/or (II), w.r.t. compsn. is 5-95 (10-60) wt. %. Uses include : cleaning instruments, conduits, vessels of wood, plastics, metal, ceramic or glass; furniture, walls, floors, and esp. washing textiles and dishes. The higher cost of K aluminosilicates, compared with Na zeolites A or X, is more than compensated by their improved washing or cleansing power. Good results are also obtd. in the presence of increased electrolyte quantities. The compsns. can be used for washing with sea-water.
|
