Initiation of sulphoxidation of c 10-20 n-alkanes with - cyclohexylsulphonyl acetyl peroxide

The process comprises sulphoxidising a 5-10% solution of cyclohexane in acetic anhydride (with initiation by U.V. irradiation, ozone or H2O2) according to the equation. C6H12 + SO2 + O2+(CH3CO)2O right arrow C6H11SO2OOCOCH3 + CH3COOH; continuously introducing the resulting 5-20% solution of cyclohexylsulphonyl acetyl peroxide in acetic anhydride (0.05-2% with respect to the n-alkane mixture) into a C10-20 n-alkane mixture; and sulphoxidising the latter according to the equation: RH + SO2 + 0.5 O2 right arrow RSO3H.
