The valve (5) is mounted in the top of the silo and has a hinged plate which closes the opening of the outlet pipe (4). The weight of the plate is calculated to operate the valve under a number of predetermined conditions, and may be regulated. The valve plate is sealed around the edges by resting on a flat seal ring located at the top of the outlet pipe. The valve may also have the pressure regulated by a spring which controls the lifting pressure required on the valve. The valve is mounted in the dished end at the top of the silo.
