Preventing moire effect in spun yarns - by measuring continuously cyclic thickness variations, integrating measured values and indicating compared excessive values

Cyclic variations of thickness of spun yarns ar determined and indicated by continuously measuring the thickness of a moving yarn, a predetermined number of measured values is integrated and the sum continuously checked in respect of its value being maintained within a preset range, the values which lie outside the range being indicated. Detection of cyclic variation of thickness which leads to subsequent processing to formation of moire effect leads to prevention of occurrence of the effect by countermeasures.
