Aq. dispersions of air-drying alkyd resins - for use as coatings and paint binders with improved water resistance

Aq. resin dispersions contain non-ionic emulsifier built from polybutadiene and polyethylene glycol segments. The emulsifier has Mn of 500-10,000 (500-5000) and content of ethylene oxide units of 20-70 (30-60) wt. %. Used as air-dying coatings or paint binders of alkyl resin type. After air-drying the coatings have better water-resistance than those contg. conventional non-reactive emulsifiers, and high hardness. The emulsions contain little or no volatile organic solvents, amines or ammonia.
