[Also in Division C7] Compositions suitable for non-electric plating comprise a crystalline polyolefin, at least 0À5 weight per cent of inorganic filler and at least 2 weight per cent of an elastomer based on the weight of the polyolefin, the filler and elastomer constituting 2À5 to 40 weight per cent of the composition. The polyolefin may be polypropylene, polyethylene or an ethylene/ propylene or ethylene/butene copolymer. The filler may be carbon black, silica, clay, kieselguhr, glass fibre, asbestos, talc, mica, calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, alumina or magnesium carbonate. The elastomer may be a polybutadiene, styrene/butadiene, acrylonitrile/butadiene, butyl, ethylene/propylene, ethylene/propylene/diene or ethylene/ vinyl acetate elastomer. The compositions may also comprise conventional stabilizers and colorants. Examples describe the plating of articles made of compositions based on polypropylene, polyethylene and propylene/ethylene copolymers.</p> |
