ABSORPTIVE MATERIAL AND METHOD OF FABRICATING SAME

Absorbent materials with enhanced dispersibility in blood are produced by surface-treating water-swellable particulate absorbent materials with one or more polyethers. Useful polyethers are those of the formula HO(C2H4O)a(C3H6O)b(C2H4O)cH in which a + c or b may be zero. The particulate absorbent materials are contacted or mixed with the liquid or liquefied polyether or a solution thereof in a volatile solvent. The produced materials are especially suitable as hygienic disposable products and for medical and surgical uses.
