Acrylonitrile(I) was prepd. by ammoxidn. of propene(II) using catalysts contg. metal oxides in the ratio of 2.0-20.0 : 0.1-10.0; 0.1-10.0: 0.5-10.0; 0.2-11.5; 0-15.0; 0.005-1.0 Co-Fe-Bi-W-Mo-Si-K(Ca). Thus, passing a flow of II 5.7, propane 0.3, NH3 7.0, air 65.0, and steam 22.0 vol. % over the above catalysts at 54.1l/hr and 420≦̸C gave 78.8% I at 83.5% selectivity 94.3% II conversion.
