PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound with low contents of acidic and hydrolyzable chlorine-containing substances, by passing hydrogen chloride gas formed as a by- product through a reaction product formed from an organic amine and phosgene in an inent solvent to remove gases. CONSTITUTION:Hydrogen chloride gas is brought into contact with the reaction product formed from an organic amine and phosgene in an inert solvent at 140- 230 deg.C for 30 min-5 hr countercurrently to remove gases, thus giving the desired compound, e.g. toluylene diisocyanate, etc. EFFECT:The product can be obtained economically and easily with suppressed deterioration, e.g. polymerization, and high recovery of phosgene. Hydrogen chloride can be highly utilized. Foams having excellent adhesiveness, dimensional stability, and color can be obtained. USE:Row material for preparing polyurethane foams, elastomers, adhesives, and coating compounds. |
