<p>A process for substantially lowering the levels of elements such as cobalt and iron, and in addition lead contained in a molten nickel matte by selective oxidation in the presence of a molten slag mixture. The metal oxides dissolve in the slag mixture which is subsequently removed from contact with the matte. The slag is cleaned by reduction and returned for further matte refining.</p> |
