A connector for attaching a gas- burning torch to a gas container comprises a rotatable clamping ring 39 rotatable to cause a resilient clamping element 33 to firmly grip the upper lip of a gas container (not shown). The clamping element 33 which is generally cylindrical in shape, is provided with peripheral slits 37 and axial slits 38 as well as a plurality of outwardly extending cams 35. These cams 35 move along respective eccentric curved tracks (not shown) formed on the internal surface of the clamping ring 39, when the latter is rotated, to thereby squeeze the cams 35 in a radial direction and cause the clamping element 33 to compress and grip the gas container. <IMAGE> |
