发明名称 AXIAL DIRECTION ALIGNER OF OPTICAL FIBERS
摘要 PURPOSE:To make possible automation of the apparatus by controlling the movement quantity for aligning core axes according to the difference in the quantities of output light before and after the minute movement of the optical fibers to be connected. CONSTITUTION:The incident laser light to a stationary optical fiber 2 is emitted from the optical fiber 1 to be connected. The quantity of said light is detected with a light wattmeter 5 and is stored in a memory device 6a via the AND gate which is opened in accordance with the control signal from a motor control unit 10 for turning of the motors 9, 9' of a moving stage 8. Next, the detection output of the wattmeter 5 of the case when the fiber 1 is moved by way of the stage 91 or 92 is similarly stored in a memory device 6b. From these storage contents, an arithmetic unit 7 makes operation based on the formula 1, thus controlling the next movement quantity of the optical fiber 1. In the similar manner, the movement in the direction perpendicular to this movement is accomplished, thus the core axis adjustment of the optical fibers is performed while the position is being measured. In the forumla: A-B denotes the difference in the storage values of detected photoelectric quantites, x the movement quantity and K a constant.
