Leather imitation webs are mfd. (i) impregnating webs made from matted natural or synthetic fibres with bonding agent mixts. contg. one or more foamable polymers or copolymers, at least a blowing agent, and, if necessary, a plasticiser, organic solvents, pigments and known fillers and additives, (ii) expelling excess bonding agent by squeezing, (iii) foaming and drying the webs at elevated temp. and (iv) finally laminating using heat and pressure. Bulky webs having low bulk density, improved mechanical strength and permeability are also laminated permanently without danger of separation of layers in that the carrier webs and bonding agents are bonded integrally to one another.
