Textile fabric coating appts. having a trough which is associated with a doctor blades of considerable length serving as a weir is provided with a feeler which indicates the deflection of the weir edge. Sensor indicates smallest deflections which are brought about by minor temp. chances. Deflection can be corrected by unskilled operators.
