Process for preparing bisazomethine pigments of the formula <IMAGE> where A and A1 are radicals of diazo components, B and B1 are carbocyclic or heterocyclic aromatic radicals and D is an aliphatic radical of 2-6 carbon atoms, a cycloaliphatic radical of 5-8 carbon atoms or an araliphatic radical of 7-10 carbon atoms, by a) heating an azomethine of the formula <IMAGE> in a diluent, or b) heating an imine or azomethine of the formula <IMAGE> where D1 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1-6 carbon atoms, with a diamine H2N-D-NH2 in a diluent.
