PURPOSE:To remove remaining gaps caused by lack of fusion bonding and contour distorsion of fine heat softenig hollow fibers which are packed closely and fusion bonded, by sealing both ends of the respective fibers. CONSTITUTION:The fine hollow fibers 4 made of a heat softening material such as a plastic, glass, etc., consisting of the hollow part 1, the pipe 2, and the coated part 3 for fusion bonding, are packed closely and fusion bonded by heating to give a microchannel plate suitable for a multiplier phototube, etc. Both ends of the fine hollow fibers 4 are preferably sealed to provide uniform pressure, thus preventing the fibers 4 from local collapsing. |
