PURPOSE:To prepare laminated paper useful as insulating paper for extremely high- voltage cables, by melt-laminating a polyolefin film containing a silanol-condensation catalyst, and grafted with a silicone, onto cellulose paper, and heat treating the laminate. CONSTITUTION:A polyolefin, e.g. polyethylene, etc., is mixed with preferably 0.01-2 wt.% of a radical generator, e.g. dicumyl peroxide, etc., 0.1-5 wt.% of a hydrolyzable silyl compound, e.g. vinyltrimethoxysilane, etc., and a silanol-condensation catalyst, e.g. dibutyltin dilaurate, etc., and formed to film 2 by an extruder 1 through a T-die. The film 2 in the softened state is laminated while it is still soft, with craft insulating papers 3 and 3' having moisture contents of <= 2%. Successively, the laminate is pressed with a hot roll 4, preheated with a heating system 5, wound by a winding reel 6 and heat treated preferably at 80-110 deg.C in a heating chamber 7 to give the desired composite film.
|
