PURPOSE:To provide outer parts for a watch excellent both in function and apperance, by forming metallic oxide on the elementary metal same as that constitutes the metal oxide, or on an alloy contg the metal. CONSTITUTION:A case made of a material contg. Fe, and Cr, Ni as principal components, is subjected to soln. heat-treatment to give desired hardness. After usual mirror finishing of the case 3 surface, the case is connected to a cathode 2 of an ionization plating apparatus, then the bell jar 1 is evacuated to the order of 10<-6> Torr and Ar is introduced 9 into it to 2X10<-2> Torr. Subsequently, a voltage of 3 KV is applied by a voltage source 4, Ar bombardment cleaning is conducted and the bell jar 1 is evacuated once again to the order of 10<-7> Torr. Hereafter, Zr 6 is evaporated by an electron beam evaporation source 5, simultaneously a voltage of 200 V is applied from an ionization source 11 to form Zr coating on the case 3 surface. Then O2 gas is introduced 9 into the bell jar 1 to perform reactive ionization plating, thus ZrO2 film is formed. |
