PURPOSE:To eradicate uneven grinding such as ''edge sucking'' phenomenon on a workpiece at the time of sander working by applying pressure less on both ends of a pad than in the center. CONSTITUTION:A bottom surface 1 of a pad 2 of a drum sander is formed in the way that it is gradually curved upward from the center to both ends. In the case of a drum sander with this pad 2, when equal pressure is applied on the whole top surface 3 of the pad 2, the pressure applied on a sandpaper 4 by the pad 2 is the strongest in the center and becomes weaker toward both ends. Thus, the surface of a workpiece 5 to be treated is ground almost evenly without causing any uneven grinding such as ''edge sucking'' phenomenon. |
