967, 846. Editing systems for television recordings. AMPEX CORPORATION. Sept. 4, 1962 [Oct. 2, 1961), No. 33912/62. Heading G5R. A system is provided for automatically revising and adding to material recorded on magnetic tape in response to cueing and edit signals recorded on the tape and is so arranged that new material is recorded in synchronism with previously recorded material. Fig. 1A illustrates a magnetic tape 10 being fed from reel 11 to reel 12 past centrally placed video erase head 32 and video recording heads 15 providing transverse video tracks. Two longitudinal tracks are utilized, an audio track co-acting with erase head 24 and recording head 25 and a cueing and edit track coacting with erase head 27 and recording head 28. The cueing pulses designating change points in the program may either be picked up from the cueing track or as supersonic signals in the audio track to control a cueing unit (not shown). One of the functions of this unit is to provide stop and start sequence pulses to an editor unit. Such an editor unit is the subject-matter of Specification 967,847 and effects the addition of new material to the tape in synchronism with previously recorded material. The cueing unit also controls an animator unit for producing time lapse effects. Control circuit details comprising delay circuits and multivibrator switches are provided. |
