Tubes, sleeves or similar hollow bodies having reference markings, such as longitudinal seams, overlaps or other scannable markings, mounted for imprinting on the mandrels 6 of a turret plate 1, switched in steps of a treatment machine, are positioned by coupling the mandrels 6 to a continuously rotating drive during a stand-still period of the turret plate 1 in successive coarse positioning stations 2, until the reference marking of the tube appears under a scanner 5 in a defined circumferential position, whereby a signal is produced which stops the coupling and braking process initiated under a programme control by the switching drive of the turret plate 1. The mandrels 6 are coupled to a drive during the stand-still period of the turret plate 1 in a subsequent fine positioning station 4, the angle of rotation of the latter drive being limited by the signal of a scanner 5 which is associated with this fine positioning station 4 and which is mounted in correspondence with an accurately defined nominal position of the tubes. <IMAGE> |
