PURPOSE:A laser beam from a laser oscillator is devided into a plurality of laser fluxes through a multiple optical system so as to heat-treat a number of articles to be processed simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam 3 emitted from a laser oscillator 1 passes through a collimator lens consisting of a concave lens 2 and a convex lens 4 and is reflecled by a mirror 5 at a right angle. A portion of the reflected laser passes through a through-hole 6a of a prism 6, is again reflected by a mirror 7, condensed by a concave mirror 8. Then the condensed laser irradiates and heats the surface of an article A supported by a holder 11a on a revolving table 9. The heated article A is quenched, as required, by pouring a cooling medium such as water or oil from a liquid jet nozzle 10. While the revolving table 9 rotates to transfer the article A from the holder position 11a to 11e, the other portion of the parallel laser reflected from the mirror 5 is refracted by a conical prism 6 and formed into an annular laser flux to irradiate and heat the article for tempering. |
