A piston (14) in the injection valve is moved to-and-fro by an electromagnet (12). At least two non-return valves (20, 26) and an injection nozzle are provided. The magnet is connected by lines (86) with the control electronics which in turn are connected via monitor lines to sensors on the internal combustion engine. In a design variation a non-return valve is provided for the inlet and outlet to the cylinder housing and a non-return throughflow valve in the piston itself. An injection valve is pref. associated with each combustion chamber or all such chambers operate with a single valve.
