PURPOSE:An austenite structure having reduced content of C, N, P, S, O and less than specified amount of ferrite is useful for providing a welding wire that contributes to formation of Nb stabilized austenite stainless steel deposited metal. COMPOSITION:A new welding wire comprises; Cr:14-30%, Ni:8-25%, Mn: 0.2-2.5%, P:0.010% or less, S:0.005% or less, 0:0.015% or less, C:0.02% or less, N:0.03% or less, C+N:0.04% or less, Nb: 8X(C+N) or more and not greater than 0.06/%, Si: 1.5X{Nb-10(C+N)} or less, Ni equvalent is more than 1.31X Cr equivalent -13.5, and the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities. Further, the wire may include Mo;0.2-4.0%, as required. In inert gas arc welding, the wire of this composition provides an excellent weldability and deposited metal having good toughness either before or after SR treatment. |
