PURPOSE:The surface of a Cu alloy is overlaid with a Au-Ni-Co alloy, using both age-hardening alloys, and heat-treated at a temperature bolow excess-age-hardening temperature of Cu alloy. The process provides a corrosion-and wear-resistant gold- alloy-coated armor product for use in personal watch. CONSTITUTION:An armor product for personal watch is produced from an age- hardening Cu alloy that increases hardness by a low temperature tempering. The Cu alloy surface is overlaid with a gold alloy consisting of Au: 50-96%, Ni: 1- 25% and Co: 1-25%, by using dry-or wet-process. The overlaid surface is heat- treated at a temperature of 150-550 deg.C, whereby alloy of base Cu and surface Au interdiffuse to cause f firm bonding between them and simultaneous age-hardening increases hardness thereof to provide increased wear-,corrosion-, shock- and scratch- resistance and enhanced mirror brightness. |
