Various pollutants are removed from exhaust gases by (a) first adsorber with an activated carbon bed to adsorb the SO3, (b) a second activated carbon bed to remove SO2 and nitrogen oxides, (c) a cooling stage between the first and second adsorbers to cool the exhaust gases, (d) lines between the various components to convey the gas. Removal of the SO3 drops the acid dew pt. of the gas to below that at which effective adsorption will take place in the second adsorber. To remove pollutants such as SO3, SO2, Nox etc. from exhaust gases to comply with environmental pollution regulations. The problem with SO3 is that it causes H2SO4 to condense out and cause severe corrosion. By effectively removing this at an elevated temp. the problem is greatly reduced.
|
