PURPOSE:A porous catalyst ceramic which is free of blinding due to the occurrence of tar and soot and has fine pores, which is applicable in combustion apparatus, obtained from the molding and sintering of a metal oxide. CONSTITUTION:The porous ceramic catalyst has a porosity of 10 to 90 %, preferably more than 50 %, in which pore volume of a pore diameter of 1000 Angstrom is more than 5 % on the basis of the total pore volume of a pore diameter of less than 7.5 mu m. The ceramic catalyst can be obtained by the procedure in which zeolite, molecular sieve, etc., with fine pores having catalytic activity, is mixed with kaolin as a binder and a carbonaceous material as a foaming agent, and the mixture is then molded into a desired shape and then sintered. |
