The door positioning system for a domestic oven includes a tensioning spring (5) behind the door and a sheet (16) extending across the interior mounted on a hinge pins (14) each end. In the middle of this sheet is an L shaped slot (20) through which protrudes a hand operated bolt (21). The hinge pins travel in slots (13) of end guide straps (12). They also travel in slots (17) in straps (18) down each edge so as to move the sheet (16) downwards. The bolt moves to the top of the L slot (20). When the door is closed, a spring (19) lifts each hinge pin up again. This enables the bearing pin (14) to travel over the top of a supporting bracket (6) inside the door.
