Mine face conveyor section joining members - consist of dumb=bell shaped blocks fitting into wedges sliding in side grooves

The method of joining sections of face conveyors for mining uses locking members (1) which fit each side of the sections (4). These are held in position by wedges (6) which slide in grooves along the sides. The locking member is dumb bell shaped and can be fitted into correspondingly shaped recesses (14) through the sloping inner sides of the section. They are then gripped by the wedges which are triangular in section, sliding in triangular grooves, and with recesses for the bulbous heads of the locking members.
