PURPOSE:To reduce overhead to perform a high-analysis capability diagnosis by loading a diagnostic firmware from the main memory to a peripheral device, etc., and checking whether the firmware is correctly loaded or not. CONSTITUTION:Main memory MMU 32 prepares firmware data with CRC checking characters added in the area, and the first and the second controllers 31 and 33 have RAM area 36 and ROM area 35 and use memory MMU 32. Here, when a load firmware command has come from controller 31, controller 33 recognizes the command with its own ROM 35 and loads the firmware prepared in memory MMU 32 to RAM area 36 of controller 33 and performs the CRC check for firmware data. As a result, overhead can be reduced, and a high-analysis capability diagnosis can be performed.
