Novel 3-(phosphoryloxy) or (phosphonyloxy)-thiophenes of the formula <IMAGE> I wherein R is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R1 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkoxy of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and <IMAGE> wherein R' and R'' are individually selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R2 is selected from the group consisting of cyano, alkoxy carbonyl of 2 to 4 carbon atoms and <IMAGE> wherein Z is selected from the group consisting of phenyl and alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R3 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, alkoxy of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, alkylthio of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, phenyl, morpholino, piperidinyl and alkoxy carbonyl of 2 to 4 carbon atoms and X is selected from the group consisting of oxygen and sulfur having pesticidal properties and their preparation.
