1397901 Doors and partitions JUSTIN HUPPE 6 July 1973 [6 July 1972 9 Aug 1972] 32277/73 Headings E1J and E1W A partition member comprises a frame having a transom 4 and a parallel transverse strut 8 connected at their ends to vertical bars 10, 11, a panel 2 on each side of the frame suspended from the transom 4, resilient elements 9 between the frame and panels, and coupling means (3, Fig. 4, not shown) between the bars and the panels. Upper and lower transoms 4 and strut 8 have welded on end plates 5 secured to the bars by screws 6. The panels are suspended from the upper transom 4 by rods 7 and secured to the bars by brackets (3) engaging in pockets (15) via resilient packing (17). Magnetic strips (20, 21) on the bars serve to hold adjacent panels in edge to edge relationship. The panel contains a linkage with actuating rod (80, Fig. 7, not shown) longitudinal displacement of rod (80) causing rod (84) to push adjacent panels apart, whilst rotation of rod (84) causes rods (82) to move upper and lower packing strips (30) outwardly against a ceiling and floor. The partition member is carried by carriages 1 running in ceiling rails. |
