<p>A decorative pattern is made with a square of thin flexible material (2) such as leather, fabric or plastic which is mounted on the face (3) of a thicker semi-rigid square (1) of cardboard, or leather, etc by means of a layer of adhesive (4). The composite square is then pressed in a die which raises a pattern in relief on the surface (2) and rounds the edges (7) of the square. The squares are then mounted edge to edge in rows on a suitable backing surface and produce a decoration with a pleasing quilted or upholstered appearance.</p> |
